I [26 M] believe my girlfriend [22 F] dances too provocatively and I told her I did not want her to do that…
Main Post:
I was out with my girlfriend to celebrate her 22nd birthday this weekend. I had my friend, his girlfriend, her two co-workers, guy and girl, with their partners. I also noticed we had members\friends from the gym she works out at, and I previously worked at, at the bar.
She was not twerking, but she was "dropping it", grinding her butt against my hips, giggling her butt, as well as a lot of hip action and suggestive movements. I would usually be fine with this if it were just me and her in a random bar or her out with her female friend without people we know attending it. At first, after quite a big of arguing and discussing the night, she agreed with me. After she talked to her friends and family, she said they said she can dance how she wants and there should be no problem with it. They had issue with the fact that I said she was "dancing like a hoe".
Now, to preface this, I had female friends who were very open with their sexuality, and I respected it, but I would not date them because it did not match up to what I desire in a relationship. I would rather be extremely selective who I have relations with and would want a partner who shared that view. She has the same mindset and agrees with my view on that.
I told her the next day that I did not enjoy her provocative dancing, I said she was dancing like a hoe\whore (sorry for those of you who hate that word, plus I should refrain from using it) provocatively as I did not want any of our friends or her co-workers to view her in that way. She even said, while drunk, to her male co-worker that she would be embarrassed to look at him after tonight. She was somewhat joking, but somewhat serious in that statement. She also said that none of this shall be mentioned to her students (they are both tutors at a school).
My view is that if she is ashamed of the way she danced and embarrassed because her co-worker saw her dance in such a provocative way, then she was dancing too sexually for the company we had around. We both disagree on who is right, and this is a matter of opinion, so what do you think? Would you, if you're female, dance the same way in front of your co-workers, friends, and boyfriend's friends than you would if you were just dancing at a club with your boyfriend or friend in absence of known company?
I am completely fine with her having male friends, even ones that attempt to flirt with her often (given some limitations), or "ex-boyfriend friends", if they speak to her in a proper manner. I think nothing of it if she wanted to go out for coffee one on one with her guy friend or anything. I completely trust her and have no doubt in my mind about her cheating on me. I may tease her about it a little from time to time, but its just teasing and she knows it.
Summary Girlfriend was dancing provocatively in front of my friends and her co-workers. Said she was embarrassed afterward, semi-jokingly, and disagrees with me when I said it made me feel uncomfortable due to the company and I want her to not do it next time.
TL;DR Girlfriend dances provocatively, IMO, in front of known company. Doesn't see the harm\discomfort in doing it again.

I understand your viewpoint in that you feel embarrassed by her dancing moves in company. For example, I wouldn't be dancing sexually in front of my family or my boss. However, if you are in the company of friends, whether yours or hers, she has every right to dance the way that she wants. Otherwise, why keep company that will judge her for her moves? Loosen up, let her be free and enjoy life. There are bigger fish to fry in the sea.

Destroying a legacy. Seriously can't believe what's happening to Q-Dance. Our genre just won't be the same without these events. This brand defined our genre. I think it's safe to assume that Q-Dance is well and truly over which is something I never thought I'd say. Yes, business is business and everything has an end, but this just doesn't feel right.
Our scene deserves more of an honest explanation as to what's really going on. I feel for everyone in our scene because of this news, especially the artists. The magical and mystical elements that drew me into this genre in the first place will be gone. It's not just Q-Dance; most of the big brands are owned by ID&T (b2s, Art of Dance). Our scene being in the hands of venture capital makes me wanna puke. Keep your heads up everyone.
Top Comment: The new owner of Q-Dance & ID&T , Venture Capital firm KKR, is screwing us big time!!!!! If they dont make enough $$$$ , then they just whipe the event. Gone is the management with love and passion :-( People who never even been at EDM events in their life are now running the "mothership" and Q-Dance has to say "Yes and amen KKR" F*ck those venture capital firms!!!
